Shamrocks Frequently Asked Questions

Question: I would like to tryout for any of the Shamrocks teams. When are tryouts held?
Answer: Typically, open or closed tryouts for any of the age groups are held in the late summer/early fall. Tryout information is posted in the Shamrocks website when information is available.

Question: How much does it cost to tryout for any of the Shamrocks teams?
Answer: FREE! FREE! FREE! The Shamrocks are a non-profit organization, they have never charged money to tryout and never will. As a matter of fact, some of the teams actually give away gifts. For example, the 16U tryouts have in the past given Shamrocks t-shirts to all of those trying out.

Question: When is the Shamrocks Summer Camp?
Answer: The Shamrocks Summer Camp is typically held in first couple of weeks in July, but information does not get posted to the website until late March/early April. When information does become available, it is listed on the Shamrocks Clinic web page.

Question: Are there any pins available from previous years?
Answer: It would depend on how many pins each team has left over and keeps. It may be possible to get pins, but you'd have to e-mail the Shamrock's coach for the corresponding age group.

Question: I liked the Macromedia Flash opening page that you used to have. Why did you take it down?
Answer: The Macromedia Flash opening page became too hard to maintain. If you would like to see it, it is still on the website. See the previous Macromedia Flash opening page.

Question: What software tools do you use to maintain the Shamrocks website?
Answer: Currently, I use Macromedia Studio MX, which includes Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash. I started this website using a text editor, then found it less time consuming to use the HTML editor Allaire Homesite 3.0 (now Allaire is part of Macromedia). For image editing, I used to use Adobe Photoshop 4.0, but found it too complicated and bought Macromedia Fireworks 4. Recently, I upgraded to Macromedia Studio MX. You can learn more about the Macromedia tools at the company's website, http://www.macromedia.com.
